Brigantine Police Officer Injured After Accident

autowreckOn October 25th, Officer Richard DeLeon was injured in an on duty motor vehicle accident. Officer DeLeon was stopped for pedestrians crossing Brigantine Avenue, when he was struck from behind by a pickup truck. The police Tahoe and the other vehicle sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene. Officer DeLeon sustained injuries to his neck and back area and was transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. The other driver (Erik Ireland of Brigantine), stated to police that he and his children were uninjured, but was also transported to the hospital, for evaluation.  The accident is under investigation by  Sergeant Franklin Hewitt.
